What and Why
As an intern at ForeSee, I successfully redesigned the ForeSee Sales Department intranet page to make the documents easier to find and, therefore, increase staff usage.

Problem
The ForeSee Sales team found it difficult to navigate and search for documents on the intranet, which caused them to give up and meant they weren’t taking advantage of all of the available tools and materials.
Approach
Interviews
Members of the Sales team, of all different levels, spoke to me to give me the necessary context about the pain points of the current Sales page and what they hoped to get from the redesign.
Brainstorming
I led brainstorming sessions with department heads and the corporate trainer to generate ideas and determine new layout possibilities.
Design Mockups
I created mockups of the new layout, and iterated on my designs until they were approved by all stakeholders.
Feedback
The Sales team provided feedback about the redesigned page to ensure I had improved the findability of the documents.
Struggles and Successes
The biggest challenge was getting consensus on what the Sales staff needed and how the new design could support that, especially when I was mostly having 1:1 meetings.
In addition to navigational issues, I determined that the collateral was difficult to find because the documents were tagged incorrectly, or not at all, and there were no naming conventions for uploaded materials. I worked with one of the other interns to rename all of the case studies and success stories by company. She provided a one-sentence description of each document’s value to provide an overview without needing to open the document. We were able to provide a library of documents that was easily scannable and could be filtered by device. Ultimately, this decreased the amount of time the Sales staff needed to locate the documents they needed and increased their engagement with the available material.

Outcome
My final designs were a success. The members of the sales team that I interviewed described the page as cleaner, simpler, and more intuitive, making materials easier to find.
The design ended up becoming the template for the rest of the department pages on the intranet.
